Forest, and the work you keep putting off

It turns a quiet hour into something you can see. The tree is a small reward, and leaving early has a small cost.

Blocking chosen apps removes the easiest escape. For a lot of people, that alone gets more work done.

The timer works once it is running. Some patterns fire before that, in the moment you sit down and feel the work.

The Perfectionism Trap is one. The work feels not good enough yet, so you reopen it, fix it again, or never start. A timer can hold the phone. It cannot tell you the work is ready.

Behavioral Interception is the practice of catching an automatic pattern as it begins, intercepting its usual response, and practicing a different action until it becomes more natural.

The first step is small. Feel the body signal as you sit down, like a tight jaw. Name the pattern to yourself.

Then pick one different action before you start the timer. Write for ten minutes without fixing anything. Keep the tree too.
