Freedom, and where the pull goes once the site is gone

Read what the app says it does first. Then read where it stops, and try the move at the end.

Freedom takes away the place a habit runs. A pattern was never kept in the place, so it can move.

THE APP, IN ITS OWN WORDS

    • It blocks the apps and websites you choose, so you can focus.
    • One block can run across your phones, tablets and computers.
    • You can schedule blocks for now, for later, or on a repeat.

Checked on 2026-10-10 from the app's own pages: its home page and its App Store listing. Apps change. Read their pages for what is true today. We list no prices.

Freedom blocks apps and websites you pick. You choose the list and the hours, and it keeps them shut.

This page covers what the app is good for, where it stops, and what to try.

    What it is good for

It takes the easiest exit off the table. When a site is blocked, it is simply not there to open.

One block can cover every device, so no laptop is left as a back route. A schedule means you decide once, not every evening.

    Where it stops

A block removes a place. It does not remove the pull that sent you there.

Success Sabotage is one example. The work is going well, and something in you wants to stop. Block the sites, and the pull finds a drawer to sort or a fight to start.

That move is the sign of a pattern. It is tied to a feeling, not a site, and the feeling comes with you.

What to try when the pattern keeps running

Behavioral Interception is the practice of catching an automatic pattern as it begins, intercepting its usual response, and practicing a different action until it becomes more natural.

Keep the block. Then notice what you reach for next. That reach is the pattern looking for a new place.

Catch it there. Feel the body signal, like restless legs or a tight jaw, and name the pattern to yourself.

Then do the different action you chose ahead of time, like five more minutes of work. The app holds the site. You hold the moment.

The free Crash Course, short lessons on your pattern, starts by naming it.
