one sec, and the pause it builds into your phone
Read what the app says it does first. Then read where it stops, and try the move at the end.
one sec puts a pause in front of an app. A pattern needs the same pause in front of a person.
THE APP, IN ITS OWN WORDS
- It delays the apps you choose instead of blocking them outright.
- You can set it up with any app you want to use less.
- After a set time, it takes you out of the app until you pass the pause again.

one sec slows you down on purpose. When you open a chosen app, it shows a short pause before the app loads.
This page covers what the app is good for, where it stops, and what to try.
What it is good for
It gets one big thing right. A reach for the phone is often automatic. A short pause gives you a chance to choose.
A delay is not a ban. You can still open the app. You just have to mean it.
Where it stops
The pause lives on the phone. Most patterns run somewhere else: at a table, in a car, in a doorway during an argument.
No app can put a pause between you and a person. You have to carry that pause yourself.
What to try when the pattern keeps running
Behavioral Interception is the practice of catching an automatic pattern as it begins, intercepting its usual response, and practicing a different action until it becomes more natural.
It is the same idea as the app, carried off the screen. Feel the body signal, a hot face or tight chest, and name the pattern.
Then take one breath before you answer, and do the different action you chose ahead of time. Repeat it until the pause comes on its own.
The free Crash Course, short lessons on your pattern, starts by naming it.
