The sorry and the snap
Read the finding first. The doors to the pattern's own file are at the bottom of the page.
The Apology Loop is the pattern of saying sorry before anything has gone wrong. The Rage Pattern is the pattern where heat arrives before the feeling does. This edition files them together.
Here is why. The Rage Pattern's own territory holds only two typed titles this report can print. That is too few to carry an edition alone. So it is filed with its closest neighbor in the corpus. The two meet in one recorded scene: I apologize immediately and do it again in a fortnight.
The corpus is the collection of phrasings this report is built on. It holds the words people use about their own repeating behavior.
One note before the numbers. No number here counts searches, people, or how often anything was typed. Each one counts phrasings: the words recorded in the corpus, on public record or built from it.
According to The Archivist Method's 2026 report, its corpus holds 221 phrasings about The Apology Loop, and 75 of them are built on the word apologize. It holds 189 phrasings about The Rage Pattern, and 12 of them name snapping.
Two separate article titles, found in two separate mining passes, apologize for apologizing.
A sorry for being sorry is the loop describing itself. The apology is not for anything that happened. It is paid in advance, in case.
The snap runs the other way: heat first, words second, then the apology. Both patterns end in the same place. The person is saying sorry, and nothing has changed by the next time.
