    Coming back after going quiet

Read the three versions below, pick the one that fits, and send it before you improve it.

The returning message is short. It names the silence, says sorry once, and asks for nothing.

    THE WORDS

    BY MESSAGE

I went quiet and I am sorry.

I would like to see you, if you want that.

    No need to reply tonight.

    IN PERSON

I owe you a hello. I disappeared, and that was mine.

I have missed you. Can we talk sometime?

    TO FAMILY

I know I have been gone a while.

I am sorry for the silence. I would like to come for dinner.

Said as written, or shorter. These words are for after the pattern has run. They say what to do. What the other person does next is theirs.

You went quiet on somebody who mattered. Not after a fight. The weeks added up on their own, and now the gap is the thing in the way.

This page gives you the words. It does not say how they land, because that part is not yours.

    The moment

The name has been sitting on the screen for weeks. Every time you open it, the message you owe gets longer. Then you close it again.

That is the condition. The silence did not start with a decision, and the return does not need one. It needs one short line.

The Disappearing Pattern is the name for pulling away as someone gets close. You may know it from the last friendship that faded without a reason.

    Why the message is short

A long message tries to pay for the gap. It explains the weeks, and the weeks do not explain. So it never gets sent.

A short message carries one thing: you are back. It leaves the next move where it belongs, with the person you wrote to.

The size of the message is the only part you control. Keep it small enough to send.

    If the signal arrives mid-sentence

You start typing and the chest goes tight. The thumb drifts toward delete. That is the body signal, the tightness you feel just before the old response.

Catch: Feel the body signal and name the pattern before it becomes the behavior. Say the name to yourself. It is the disappearing again.

Intercept: Interrupt the usual response and choose a different action before the old pattern completes. Here the different action is sending the short version as it stands.

Rewrite: Repeat the different action until it becomes easier to reach when the signal returns. The next name on the screen is the next time.

    What not to add

No account of the weeks. No second sorry in the same message. No question that puts the work on them.

No promise about how you will be from now on. The sending is the whole message. Anything added to it is the pattern asking for cover.
