Is it normal for my partner to find other people attractive?
Read on. The file this belongs to is named below, with the words to say when it starts.
PATTERN: The Testing Pattern
Noticing other attractive people is very common. Being with someone does not switch off the eyes. A glance at a stranger, a face on a screen, a crush on a singer: none of it is a choice the person made against you.
So the answer is yes. Notice what the glance does to you. If it sends a jolt through your chest and a question into your mouth, that jolt is the part to read.
What common does and does not tell you
It tells you that noticing someone is not the same as wanting to leave. Attraction is a reaction. What a person does with it is a separate thing.
It does not tell you why the noticing hurts you so much. That is a question about your side of the room, and it is one you can answer.
Why normal is the wrong question here
Because it asks you to rule on what happens in their head. You cannot see in there, so any ruling is a guess. A guess cannot settle you.
What you can see is your own reaction. Where it lands in your body. What you say or do next.
The question underneath it
Often it is a question about rank. Am I enough? Would they rather have that? When would they stop choosing me?
That is where The Testing Pattern can start. It is the pattern that pushes to find out when someone would stop, not whether they care. Here it looks like watching their eyes, checking who they follow, and asking trap questions such as would you rather.
[MECHANISM]
The order is cue, body, thought, window, behavior, relief.
The cue, the first thing that sets it off, is a glance, a like, a name they mention with warmth.
The body signal, what you feel as the pattern starts, is a fast heart and a drop in the stomach.
The window, the few seconds before the behavior, is about three to seven seconds. It is a working figure, not a measured one.
Then the check or the trap question. If they answer well, there is relief. That relief keeps the circuit, the whole sequence, running.
Is it normal for my partner to find other people attractive?
Yes. Attraction to other people does not stop when a relationship starts. It is a reaction, not a decision. What a partner does with it is what shapes a relationship. If the thought of them noticing someone sends you checking, notice that checking. It is a question asked with evidence, and evidence never quite answers it.
Is it normal for my boyfriend to find other girls attractive?
Yes. Finding other women attractive is ordinary, and it is not a ranking of you. If you need to know where you stand, ask him directly, once, at a calm time. Do not ask while you are watching his eyes in a room. A question asked in the jolt is a test, and any answer to it fades by the weekend.
Is it normal for my boyfriend to fantasize about other women?
Private thoughts are common, and they are not the same as plans. You cannot police another person's mind, and trying to will not settle you. If this has come up between you, say what you need to feel secure, in plain words. If you notice yourself quizzing him about it again and again, that repeat is the sequence to look at.
Is it normal for my husband to be attracted to other women?
Yes. Marriage does not switch off attraction. It is a choice about what to do with it. If his noticing someone sets off a fast heart in you, feel it and name it before you speak. Then decide whether to say anything. A plain sentence about how you feel lands better than a sharp remark about her.
Is it normal that my girlfriend finds other guys attractive?
Yes. She can find other men attractive and still choose you. Noticing is not leaving. If it bothers you, look at what it sets off. Do you go quiet, compare yourself, or start testing her with questions? Each of those is your sequence, not hers. Write down the last time it happened, and what you did next.
Is it normal for my partner to have a celebrity crush?
Yes. A celebrity crush is attraction at a safe distance. It involves no contact and no choice against you. If it still stings, the sting is worth reading. It often points at the question of whether you are enough. That question is fair. Ask it out loud rather than through jokes, sulks, or trap questions.
Is this a fair worry, or is this a pattern running?
A fair worry can be said out loud and answered. They reassure you, you believe them, and you settle for a while. The settling is real.
A pattern does not settle. The reassurance fades within a day, and the next glance brings a sharper check. If the same fast heart comes before each round, you are looking at a sequence rather than at an ordinary worry.
[FIELD ASSIGNMENT]
Next time you feel the jolt, name it silently: that is the fast heart.
Wait through the few seconds before you say anything.
Write down the check or question you did not send, and the fear under it.
If that reads as accurate, the file below has the whole sequence, the body signal, and what to say instead of the next trap question.

- The Testing Pattern
A fast heart at a glance, then checking and trap questions to find out where you stand, and answers that never hold.
Why do I test people who love me?
Questions people ask about this
Is it normal for your partner to find others attractive?
Yes. Attraction does not switch off in a relationship. It is a reaction rather than a decision. What a person does with it is the part that matters.
Is it okay if my boyfriend finds other girls attractive?
Noticing is ordinary. Whether it is okay for you depends on what he does with it and what you agree together. Talk about that in plain words, at a calm time.
Does finding others attractive mean they will cheat?
No one can tell that from a glance, and guessing will not settle you. Noticing is not acting. If trust is the real question, ask about trust directly.
Why does it hurt so much when my partner looks at someone else?
Because it lands on a question already running in you: am I enough. The hurt is real. It is about your question rather than about the glance.
Is it normal to be jealous of a celebrity crush?
It is common. The crush involves no contact, so the jealousy points inward, at your own question about being enough. Name it, and ask that question out loud if you need to.
Why do I keep asking if they find someone attractive?
Because each answer settles you only for a while. Reassurance you pulled out of someone feels discounted on arrival, so the next question comes. That loop is the sequence.
What is the body signal?
A fast heart and a drop in the stomach at a glance or a like. It comes three to seven seconds before the check or the trap question.
Should I check who my partner follows?
Checking is a test with no answer that holds. What you find either hurts or settles you for an hour. Put the phone down and write the question you were really asking.
What do I say instead of a trap question?
Something close to the real question. I sometimes worry I am not enough for you. It is plainer than would you rather, and the answer can be heard.
Do I need to know where this came from?
No. Pattern Archaeology, looking into where a pattern was learned, is optional work between moments. SOURCE UNKNOWN is a complete answer.
